Transport and fluctuations in mass aggregation processes: Mobility-driven clustering

چکیده

We calculate the bulk-diffusion coefficient and conductivity in nonequilibrium conserved-mass aggregation processes on a ring. These involve chipping fragmentation of masses, which diffuse lattice aggregate with their neighboring masses contact, and, under certain conditions, they exhibit condensation transition. find that, even absence microscopic time reversibility, systems satisfy an Einstein relation, connects ratio to mass fluctuation. Interestingly, when dominates over chipping, or, equivalently, mobility is greatly enhanced. The enhancement conductivity, accordance results large fluctuations can induce mobility-driven clustering systems. Indeed, parameter regime, we show that along fluctuation, diverges beyond critical density, thus characterizing previously observed transition [Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 3691 (1998)] terms instability conductivity. Notably, remains finite all cases. our analytic quite good agreement simulations.

Condensates in driven aggregation processes.

We investigate aggregation driven by mass injection. In this stochastic process, mass is added with constant rate r and clusters merge at a constant total rate 1 , so that both the total number of clusters and the total mass steadily grow with time. Analytic results are presented for the three classic aggregation rates K{i,j} between clusters of size i and j . When K{i,j}=const , the cluster si...

Mass-transport models with fragmentation and aggregation

There has been intense research interest in phase transitions in mass-transport and growth models involving adsorption and desorption, fragmentation, diffusion, and aggregation. These processes are ubiquitous in nature and arise in a large number of seemingly diverse systems such as growing interfaces [1,2], colloidal suspensions [3], polymer gels [4], river networks [5], granular materials [6]...

Stationary and Nonequilibrium Fluctuations in Boundary Driven Exclusion Processes

We prove nonequilibrium fluctuations for the boundary driven symmetric simple exclusion process. We deduce from this result the stationary fluctuations.

Rapid Spacetime Transport and Machian Mass Fluctuations: Theory and Experiment

The equations of physics, generally, are invariant under the symmetry groups of infinitesimal space and time translations. This means that energy and momentum are conserved in “isolated” systems, that is, systems that do not couple physically to anything outside of themselves. Among the propellantless propulsion schemes of interest in the context of “breakthrough propulsion physics”, however, a...

Convex Clustering via Optimal Mass Transport

We consider approximating distributions within the framework of optimal mass transport and specialize to the problem of clustering data sets. Distances between distributions are measured in the Wasserstein metric. The main problem we consider is that of approximating sample distributions by ones with sparse support. This provides a new viewpoint to clustering. We propose different relaxations o...
